The real core secret is putting down the pop tarts!

So I finally decided to do a quick work out today, since I have learned in the past (the hard way) that jumping in with a big workout is bad news.  Among our many videos, machines, and weight loss gadgets, we have the Core Secrets set–you know, the big, silver ball one.  (Side note on the big ball–there is just no good place to store that thing!  It is one BIG ball!)  Oh, and I must take this opportunity to get a jab in at my hubs–he was the one who ordered the Core Secrets set–and he has only used it twice in the year or so that we’ve had it!!  The reason I must get this jab in because it is usually me who is guilty of the buying weight loss junk and letting it collect serious dust!  (The Firm, about 5 Denise Austin tapes, an elliptical machine, a stepper, a bun and thigh machine, Tae-bo, I could go on and on here guys!)   Ahhhh, someone is getting really stinking rich on the good intentions of we who need to shed a few pounds!

So anyway, I do the workout.  I struggle.  I pant.  I sweat.  I even laugh at the guy at one point–three more?!?!  HA!   But doggone it, I made it through the stinking thing.  The saddest part of this story??  It was a 20 minute workout!  Ugh.  I am so out of shape!

That was six hours ago and I still feel funky.  I am creaking and shaky and oddly mentally altered.  This is a sad state of affairs!  I absolutely must decide to just do some sort of exercise every single day.  I just HAVE to do it.  Ultimately I only want to lose about 20 to 25 pounds–it shouldn’t be impossible–but first I’ve got to get in good enough shape to actually do a workout without needing three days afterwards to recover!

I was considering posting a before picture of me for motivation, but I don’t have the nerve.   I posted recent head shots of myself recently and frankly that was traumatic  enough!   :)

Well, we are easing our way back into a school schedule so hopefully I will find the willpower to add a daily workout to the line up.  Maybe I’ll even cut out the poptarts–which I enjoyed as breakfast this morning and also (gulp) as a snack about an hour ago!   As usual, I am totally my own worst enemy.   How depressing.  I may have to go drown my sorrows with that last pop tart now!   :)

  1. Oh, Missy… I LOVE reading your blog. :) Honestly, I could have written this post myself – although probably not as humorously as you did. haha! I have that ball too – it’s taking up an entire corner of my bedroom. I bought it and have used it probably a handful of times. UGH! I also have quite the collection of workout tapes… that never get used. My body has some kind of weird issue – it’s rather clingy to the fat I have. I’ve tried and tried but it won’t let go of it!!! Oh, well. I’ve pretty much just resigned myself to the fact that I will never be the skinny girl I once was. :) Thanks for the chuckle tonight!!

Enjoyed my fair share of Poptarts today as well:0) Yep, breakfast and snack. I know better than to BUY them… my “friend” (aka. diet-saboteur) gave them to me yesterday.

  3. LOL! Love that last comment, Missy. Hope you’re on the mend and ready to try again soon. I visited Lisa Whelchel’s blog (journal) at her website the other day. She has posted openly about her weight struggles over the past few years. Well! Let. Me. Tell. You. She looks FAB! Even as I’m green with envy (note to self: confess sin of envy), I’m motivated by her success. And I’ll start as soon as the last Krispy Kreme is gone.
    Blessings,
    ~Toni~
